A great read!

I have found H.P. Willmott to be one of the most knowledgable authors of World War II history. I used this book as a text book in a class on World Military History that Willmott taught as a visiting professor at Memphis State University in 1990. He takes a very eurocentric approach to World War II in this book, and frankly, opened my eyes to the British view of the war. His claims that the US never fought the best the Germans had to offer took some soul searching on my part to accept. But he proves his case credibly with ample facts and first hand accounts. He really gets into the "nitty gritty" of what brought the "Great Crusdade" into being and what it took to beat the Axis powers. A GREAT book that I highly recommend!

My Favorite of all Sweet Pickles

As a youth, having been born in '79, I was a sweet pickles fanatic! Moody Moose Buttons was always my favorite, and I remember to this day, often prescribing moody people ( mostly geminis) some moody moose buttons! Now that I have a little Gemini of my own, I have just purchased Moody Moose Buttons for her to enjoy! I was very sad to see this book had the lowest rating of all Sweet Pickles Books! I loved it the best out of all the books! And Poky Little Puppy too...

Prior to joining the University of Florida, Dr. Brigham held teaching positions at the University of Connecticut, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of California-Los Angeles. Dr. Brigham has served as president of the Financial Management Association and has written many journal articles on the cost of capital, capital structure, and other aspects of financial management. He has authored or co-authored ten textbooks on managerial finance and managerial economics that are used at more than 1,000 universities in the United States and have been translated into 11 languages worldwide. He has testified as an expert witness in numerous electric, gas, and telephone rate cases at both federal and state levels. He has served as a consultant to many corporations and government agencies, including the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, the U.S. Office of Telecommunications Policy, and the RAND Corporation. Dr. Brigham continues to teach, consult, and complete research in addition to his academic writing. He spends his spare time on the golf course, enjoying time with his family and dogs, and tackling outdoor adventure activities, such as biking through Alaska.

Top Textbook

This is the best textbook I've ever read. Not just the best financial textbook, but the best textbook. I used Van Horne in my MBA program in 1980. Van Horne made the same mistake that most textbook authors make: he assumes that either the student knows too much or that the teacher will clarify the author. Brigham, et. al., assumes that the student knows very little, which is always the safest assumption. In my opinion, it is impossible for an author to tell too much about a topic or to overexplain a topic. This appears to be Brigham's opinion, too. As a result, he has written a text that aids, rather than frustrates, the student in learning. In addition, it is an interestingly written text. I read well over half of the book in the evenings after work, plus Saturday and Sunday, in just one week. All textbook authors should learn from Eugene Brigham how a text book is to be written. Explain, clarify, use examples, and explain again.

Warning: The access code that is included with this text is for "Thomsonone" which is a database of financial information on major businesses. Many courses that require this book also require the "CengageNow" access code for completing graded homework. The cengagenow code is an additional $140. Make sure your class will not require completing homework within the publishers online environment before buying this book.

Love The Book's Content (Easy to Understand)

I had to purchase this book for my MBA Fin Mgmt I class last semester. I actually purchased it from the bookstore. I didn't have a finance background. I really liked the way the authors made the subject easy to understand and comprehend. It gives you plenty of examples. The answers and calculations are given for the self-test questions. This class was taken all online. When I initially had taken this class on campus, I had to drop it because I wasn't understanding the concepts. After taking an Accounting course, I felt I was better preprared for this course a second time around. This book is written for the novice and advanced student.

About the Author
William J. Baumol received his B.S.S. at the College of the City of New York and his Ph.D. at the University of London. He is professor of economics at New York University and senior research economist and professor emeritus at Princeton University. He is a frequent management consultant to major firms in a wide variety of industries in the United States and other countries as well as to a number of governmental agencies. He has been president of the American Economic Association, and three other professional societies. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, created by the U.S. Congress, and a member of the American Philosophical Society, founded by Benjamin Franklin. Dr. Baumol is the author of more than 35 books as well as hundreds of journal and newspaper articles that have been translated into more than a dozen languages.

Alan S. Blinder earned his B.A. at Princeton University, his M.A. at the London School of Economics and Ph.D. at MIT. He teaches at Princeton University and is the author of the best seller, After the Music Stopped, about the financial crisis and its aftermath. Dr. Blinder served on President Clinton's first Council of Economic Advisers and then as vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, thereby playing a role in formulating both the fiscal and monetary policies of the 1990s. Dr. Blinder, now a regular columnist for THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, has written newspaper and magazine columns on economic policy for more than thirty years. He is a past Vice President and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Economic Association.

Quintessential good introduction

I used this book as my first introduction to economics, and even many years after having read it I continue to use it as a source of reference to the most simple concepts of economics. It has the very best simple explanations of economic principles that I have ever seen. It is filled with interesting stories that bring these principles to the real world, showing a novice the potential power of these ideas. This is Economics 101 at its best.

Found the authors to not mince words - got to the point, concise, explained concepts visually and verbally. Excellent text for an undergrad beginning Econ class. Used it as an undergrad and continue to recommend. Updated version refines Micro theory, which was necessary.

I am teaching economics and have read the textbooks written by Stiglitz, Mankiw, Samuelson etc.,but I think this is the best.It not only explains the elements of economics in plain words,but also convey lots of incisive insights which we should keep in mind when we tackle economic problems. I found Baumol and Blinder very instructive as well as interesting.

About the Author
William G. Zikmund, Ph.D., was a professor of marketing at Oklahoma State University until his death in 2002. He received his bachelor of science degree in marketing from the University of Colorado, a master of science degree from Southern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of Colorado. Professor Zikmund worked in marketing research for Conway/Millikin Company and Remington Arms Company before beginning his academic career, and he had extensive consulting experience with business and not-for-profit organizations. Professor Zikmund published dozens of articles and papers in a diverse group of scholarly journals, including the JOURNAL OF MARKETING, ACCOUNTING REVIEW, and the JOURNAL OF APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY. He was the author of the successful textbooks EXPLORING MARKETING RESEARCH, BUSINESS RESEARCH METHODS, MARKETING, and EFFECTIVE MARKETING, as well as a work of fiction: A CORPORATE BESTIARY. Professor Zikmund was a member of several professional organizations, including the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Association for Consumer Research, the Society for Marketing Advances, the Marketing Educators¿ Association, and the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators. An excellent text

i have been teaching Business Research to MBA classes for 5 years. I have gone through many text books and tried out several as recommended reading for my classes. None come even close to the readability and sheer ease of use of this book by Professor Zikmund. It is well organised, and gives comprehensive coverage to all aspects of research without getting bogged down in theory. The examples, end of chapter questions and cases are interesting and serve as excellent discussion points in class. I am happy to see a new edition is available and hope that it will contain some more up to date examples.

A superb Text

I have been using Prof. William Zikmund's wonderful textbook, "Exploring Marketing Research," in my undergraduate marketing classes in the US since the early 1980s. When I started teaching "Research Methodolgy" to MBA students in Saudi Arabia some six years ago and discovered that Professor Zikmund has a text on the subject, I adopted that text without hesitation. The book is well written, easy to read and comprehend, and has several examples and very good applications and cases. I give it "A+" and recommend it to other professors and business researchers enthusiastically.

No Dust Bunnies!

This is one research methods text that will NOT be collecting dust bunnies on your shelf. It is extremely "user friendly" for the student/novice researcher but has the breadth and depth to remain useful to the expert and research professional. It is well organized so that you can skip around to the parts you need at the moment. It has lots of exercises and follow up readings/references to hammer home the content.
I had 16 weeks of statistical research methods as part of my Masters program. If I would have had this book, I would have understood and got much, much more out of those 16 weeks. If I had just one research methods book to buy, THIS is IT!
Don't waste your money on some academic text. Get this one and get the ability to hit the ground running with your research project!
